Dear WAWM Community,
As we reach the midpoint of August, the excitement for the upcoming school year continues to grow. While summer is still in full swing, our district has been buzzing with activity, including leadership development sessions, curriculum refinement, facility upgrades, and detailed planning, all aimed at ensuring we are fully prepared to welcome our students back for another outstanding year.
August marks a season of transition, when our focus shifts from summer to school. Classrooms are coming back to life, staff are returning to their buildings, and preparations are in full swing to greet our students with energy, care, and purpose. This includes the placement of sensory rooms in all elementary school buildings to help students manage sensory overload and better regulate their emotions, resulting in calmer behavior in everyday situations.
In early September, following Board review and approval, we will officially launch our new Strategic Plan, a shared vision that will guide our work over the next several years. This plan reflects the voices of our students, families, staff, and community, and will serve as our roadmap for continued growth and excellence as a school district.
As you and your family prepare for the new school year, I hope you also find time to enjoy the remaining days of summer—soaking up the sunshine and making lasting memories.
We also invite you to join us at a few upcoming events that bring our community together and set the stage for a great year:
